Felted Anatomy

Illustrator Dan Beckemeyer has created this wonderful exploration of anatomy by first drawing a skeletal structure, then stitching a cardiovascular system, and finally adding hand-felted muscle mass. Fascinating yet slighty unnerving! Who knew you could do so much with felt?

Sew much fun!

Earlier today Clare and I went to Butterhill Studios in Dorking to learn a new craft - Freestyle machine embroidery. Kirstie Allsop once described this craft as the 'crack cocaine of the craft world' and we have to agree - it's so much fun & so addictive! Both our homes will soon be filled with freestyle embroidered canvases, cushions, blankets, wall hangings.......

Here are a couple of photos of my canvas in progress. I'm really chuffed with the finished thing!

Heart of Glass

On the 8th February we are holding a stained glass workshop run by the fabulous local artist, Rebecca Cowley. The workshop will run from 7-9pm so is the perfect opportunity to spend a couple of hours trying out something different. Whether you are a complete beginner or have experience, you will leave the session with a gorgeous glass heart just in time for Valentine's Day! During the workshop you will learn how to cut & assemble the glass, copper foil the edges & solder. I, for one, am very excited!!

We are currently trying to develop our range of handmade gifts on offer at the Glazed All Over studio and are now providing things personalised and to order. My latest commission was for bunting for 2 little girls' bedrooms.... what do you think? 

Stitch in Style

For Christmas Clare bought me a fantastic book by the textile artist Poppy Treffry all about free style machine embroidery. One of our customers, Paula, went down to Cornwall recently to try out the workshop run by Poppy and came back with a fabulous cushion cover that she had made in a day.
